💡

Designing Care

Beyond Transactions

The exploration focused on how trust, communication, and emotional understanding could become an integral part of the caregiving experience - not just an added feature, but the foundation of the system itself.

"

Imagine it is 7:43 am on a Tuesday. You have a 9 am presentation. Your nanny has not arrived. Her phone goes to voicemail. Your child is awake, fed, and asking why you look worried. You have forty-seven minutes.

"

This is not an edge case. For millions of new working parents & mothers in urban India, this is a recurring condition. Not a bad day, a structural failure that has been normalised into the background hum of professional motherhood.

Understanding Childcare Today

What Does Childcare Mean?

Childcare refers to all forms of care, supervision, nurturing, and developmental support provided to children when parents or primary caregivers are unavailable or need support. It includes both:

“Why This Problem Matters”

Frame 507.png

Trust is built on luck, not the
structure

Families rely on WhatsApp forwards and neighbour referrals. There is no system that builds trust. There is only hope.

Nanny doesn't show up, everything collapses

No notice. No backup. The mother cancels her meeting, takes emergency leave, or leaves her child with whoever is available. This happens regularly.

50% of the mother's brain stays
at home

She is physically at the office. Mentally she is watching a CCTV feed, responding to WhatsApp, and worrying. The caregiver handles the physical load. The mental load never transfers.

Special needs children don't exist in this market

No platform, no caregiver, no training programme accounts for autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, or sensory processing disorders. These families are entirely on their own.

Caregivers have no training, no certification

They figure it out on the job. There is no curriculum, no recognised qualification, no standard for what a good caregiver should know.

Caregiver burnout is invisible and inevitable

Working alone, in someone else's home, with no colleagues, no debrief, and no outlet. Emotional exhaustion is the primary reason caregivers quit

Create Account

Parents begin by setting up their profile with basic details such as name, phone number, city, and address. This creates the foundation for a personalized and location-aware childcare experience.

Family Details

This step helps understand the family ecosystem - including family structure, work schedules, grandparent support, languages spoken at home, and dietary preferences. These insights help caregivers adapt to the child’s daily environment and routines.

Child Details - Basic Information

Parents share essential details about the child such as name, nickname, age, and gender. This helps personalise the caregiving experience from the very beginning.

Child Personality & Comforts

Parents describe the child’s personality, emotional triggers, favorite things, and comfort items. These qualitative insights help caregivers build trust and emotionally connect with the child faster.

Special Needs & Care Requirements

Parents can disclose any special developmental or medical needs such as autism, ADHD, speech delay, or sensory sensitivities. This enables more informed and empathetic caregiving support.

Priorities & Requirements

Parents select their top childcare priorities such as verified safety, backup caregiver guarantee, language preference, or activity-based learning. This helps tailor caregiver matching based on family needs and expectations.

POST-ONBOARDING

Once onboarding is complete, parents can explore verified caregiver profiles, compare compatibility, and schedule a trial-based booking experience.

View Profile

Each caregiver profile provides detailed information including experience, languages, availability, childcare approach, ratings, and verification details. Parents can review compatibility before moving forward with booking.

Schedule & Book

Parents select preferred dates, timings, and trial duration before confirming the booking. The flow is designed to reduce friction while giving families flexibility and clarity before committing.

Booking Confirmation

Once confirmed, parents receive a reassuring confirmation with booking details, caregiver information, and next steps for the trial experience.

Caregiver App — Post Booking

After a booking is confirmed, caregivers receive all essential child and booking information through a simplified, accessible dashboard designed for ease and clarity during care delivery.

Caregiver Home Screen

The caregiver dashboard is designed in a familiar, low-cognitive-load format with Hindi-first accessibility. It displays child information shared by parents alongside booking details such as address, duration, timings, and quick actions for call and navigation.

Frame 596.png

Parent Home Screen

After the caregiver relationship goes live, the home screen becomes a daily reassurance system for parents. Instead of overwhelming reports, the interface surfaces meaningful updates such as caregiver check-ins, child activity highlights, notes, and upcoming events in a calm and story-like format.

Parent App — Active Care Phase

Once the caregiver relationship becomes active, the parent app transforms into a real-time reassurance system that keeps parents connected to their child’s day through meaningful updates and shared care moments.

Daily Care Log & Consent Updates

The care log captures the child’s day as a chronological timeline of meals, naps, activities, milestones, and caregiver observations. Updates can include photos, timestamps, and inline consent requests - allowing parents to quickly approve decisions such as trying new food items without interrupting their workflow.

14.png

Events & Schedule

Parents can view upcoming appointments, activities, and reminders for the week. The event system acts as a shared coordination layer between caregivers and families.

Caregiver App — Active Care Flow

During active care hours, caregivers can manage daily tasks, log activities, communicate with parents, and update routines through a familiar and low-effort interface.

15.png
16.png

Activity Logging

Caregivers can quickly add updates such as meals completed, activities conducted, nap times, or mood observations. The logging system is optimized for fast input with minimal mental effort.

Parent–Caregiver Chat

The communication interface is intentionally designed to resemble familiar messaging platforms like WhatsApp to reduce learning barriers. A single-thread conversational structure keeps updates, approvals, photos, and conversations contextual and easy to follow for both sides.

Growth Strategy

Solid White Background

Phase 1: The "Trust-Seed" Period (Months 1–6)

Goal: Prove the "Zero-Failure" protocol with 50–100 families.

Founder-Led Curation: In this phase, growth is intentional and slow. You manually handle the "Precision Matching" to ensure your algorithm’s logic matches real-world parent expectations.

The "Clinical Handshake": Partner with premium pediatric clinics and child therapy centers in Bengaluru. By getting doctors to "prescribe" your service to stressed parents, you bypass expensive marketing and gain instant credibility.

Referral Loops: Focus on "Net Promoter Score" (NPS). One happy mother in a gated community WhatsApp group is worth more than 1,000 Instagram ads.

Solid White Background

Phase 2: The "B2B Anchor" Period (Months 6–18)

Goal: Transition from individual families to corporate employee bases.

Corporate Resilience Partnerships: Pitch to HR heads in the IT and Pharma sectors. Offer The Care Pipeline as a "Maternity Retention Benefit."

The Caregiver Academy Expansion: Scale up the training of caregivers. Your growth is limited by your supply of "Certified Professionals." By creating a steady stream of graduates from your Academy, you ensure you can meet the demand from corporate contracts.

Subscription Lock-in: Introduce tiered pricing. Families who have been with you for 6 months get "Legacy Rates," making it harder for them to switch to cheaper, unverified alternatives.

Solid White Background

Phase 3: The "Ecosystem Infrastructure" (Year 2–5)

Goal: Become the "Operating System" for urban childcare.

Multi-City Rollout: Use the data from Bengaluru to launch in Mumbai, Delhi, and Hyderabad. You aren't just launching an app; you are launching "Care Hubs" that manage local backup caregivers.

The Specialist Marketplace: Open the platform to child nutritionists, therapists, and educators. The app moves from being a "nanny tracker" to a "Child Development Dashboard."

Data as a Product: Sell anonymized, aggregated insights on urban childcare trends and developmental milestones to researchers and policymakers.

"It takes a village to raise a child."

Nestivo brings together parents, caregivers, and thoughtful systems to make that village feel more connected, trusted, and human.

Thank You !
